Short Story Angst

I can't decide how I feel about my short story. I liked it... and then not so much. So I rewrote it, starting from scratch. But still I just don't have a big connection to it like I usually like to have with my writings. I tend to have a deep connection with my writing and thus I feel like it is my best work I could produce.

But for this short story, that feeling just isn't there. I don't know why, it just isn't. And thus I fee like this short story is... horrible. I'm not sure if it actually is or not, it's tough to tell.

I thought of maybe just starting completely over, from scratch. As in a totally new topic. Mr. A isn't in class at this moment, so I guess if the substitute doesn't collect our stories, I might redo it tonight. Hm... that's an option I guess.

The Glitter of a Butterfly

The soft yellow glitter sprinkled across the grass, forgotten from its owner. It sparkled in the sun, like dust from an unknown world. The soft breeze picked up the glitter, sending them off to visit the world.

But behind the breeze was the life the glitter had left behind. The cool shade of the trees fell across the remains of the beauty that had been. Without the glitter, the life was gone, just an empty beauty.

The wind took the glitter to a new world, the life it left behind continued on to its own new world. Flying high, the sparkling glitter reached the sun, swinging in the breeze and caressing the clouds. And the life flew high too, but flying past the warm touch of the sun and into the world beyond.

Red Shoes Red Shoes

Today was a fun day in Creative Writing! We're starting our children's books and I'm really excited. I don't know why, but I've always wanted to write a children's book. I mean, I know I want to continue writing for fun and I've got two novels started and two more completely planned out. And for whatever reason I've always had this urge to write a children's book. My friend is really good at art and the plan was I would write it and she would illustrate it. Our book was going to be called The Mouse Who Wore Red Shoes. And it was going to be about a little mouse wore loved his little red shoes but everyone made fun of him for it. Maybe I'll still do that for class... I guess it depends on what our teacher says we need to do.
I think there is a song called Red Shoes... I just can't remember exactly how it goes or even if it exists. Maybe I'm imagining things...

30% 13

Happy Near Valentine's Day everyone! And Happy Friday the 13th! Scary, scary!

I've never been a big fan of Friday the 13th. Mainly because when I was little, my friend and I had a sleepover on Friday the 13th. All sorts of bad things happened from burnt popcorn to ridiculously large spiders that are the size of cats to the erasing of Sabrina the Teenage Witch from the tele (yes, I did just say Sabrina the Teenage Witch. I said in the beginning I was little alright?! And yes, I did just say tele). Nothing seriously bad I guess has ever happened, but it's still fun to keep your eyes peeled for evil little green gremlins who trip people. And now every Friday the 13th I email, text, or call my old friend. We live far apart so we can't have a sleepover, but we always get in touch somehow.

We just had an interesting conversation here in class about how now apparently there are fast zombies. My teacher thinks we should create zombie escape plans and I agree!! I mean, my old plan was always to run. They were slow zombies, I could survive. But now, oh no, they have to be fast zombies!! So basically I've decided that I'm screwed. I guess I'll just have to hide myself away in a cave in the Alps. Hopefully zombies can't climb.
I took a zombie survival quiz online once. I got a 30% chance at surviving...

Poetry in the Photos

As I was browsing about to find a blog with some creative writing and some style, I found an interesting one by the name of Fifty-Four by a woman named Jane. It's really cute. She has lots of photos of her family and of things she thinks are interesting, like her birds and nature. After a lot of the photos she has little free style poems about whatever is in the picture. I really like the poem she wrote about her little dog and it has some cute pictures with it. It's really nifty how she incorporates her love for photography and poetry together. I'm really into photography too (I'm the photo editor for our yearbook) so maybe I'll do some based off of pictures.

When I wrote my poem that's listed below, Before You Get Burned, I actually did have a specific picture of the characters in my head. Even though I couldn't find it, I did enjoy picking out other photos to use. So maybe I'll join in with Jane and write some of my poetry with pictures.

Before You Get Burned

Mysterious and dark
elusive eyes, hidden behind
amber sunglasses.
Armani suit,
fitted to perfection.
A secret hides within
so enemies beware
before you get burned.

Fiery and enchanting
and filled with a woman's charm,
is a person with a secret.
Trained in many special tactics
and an expert at them all.
But a nasty temper
that can be a danger to all who know her.
So enemies beware
before you get burned.

Jokes and humor
hide a dangerous professional.
Fried chicken and tropical shorts
complete the act.
A girlfriend and Caddy
help hide the true nature
of a trained agent.
Hurt a friend and now it's
personal to the professional.
So enemies beware
before you get burned.

This was the first poem I wrote in a long time. It is based off of the characters from one of my favorite TV shows, Burn Notice. The season premiere was coming up and I was so excited, I decided to write my poem based off of the three main characters. I usually have a big difficulty in writing rhyming poems, so I try to stay away from them as much as possible. I don't think it's one of my best poems. Once I got into it I really had fun coming up the next lines, especially for the last section, based off of the character Sam. The character are (from top to bottom) Mike, Fiona, and Sam. Overall I guess I would say I do like writing poems... generally.

Clichéd

Once upon a time, high high in the sky (10,000 feet in the air to be precise) lived an animated little figure by the name of Fawning Parasite. She was an animated little figure who enjoyed reading and writing. One day, while she was at school, a teacher appeared and instructed her to create a blog. Fawning Parasite clapped her hands and it was so. She decided to write about her writings and such, as instructed by her mentor. And so, let us begin this quaint little story entitled, 10,000 Ft. in the Air.

Today has been an interesting day in the life of an animated little figure in a way. All day in school we haven't done much. I watched Hamlet (such a sad ending) then had a math study hall, followed by a LONG Spanish period, another study hall, some musical times in band, and then here and now, creative writing, where I have created this blog. I think I'm going to enjoy this creative writing class. I know a lot of the girls in here and the teacher is nice. Plus I love to write. So it all kind of works out. Anywho, I guess we'll just see where this goes.
